Berkeley Buddhist Vihara – Opening Ceremony of Bodhi Maluwa – Januarys 18th, 2025
Opening Ceremony of the Bodhi Maluwa with Atavisi Buddha Pooja
Saturday, January 18th, 2025
Dear Devotees and Dhamma Friends
With great joy and reverence, we are pleased to invite you to the opening ceremony of our newly constructed Bodhi Maluwa with the freshly arrived Buddha Statues from Sri Lanka, a sacred space designed for spiritual reflection of our lord Buddha’s gratefulness.
We are especially excited to introduce the unveiling of the large Buddha statue, which stands as a symbol of enlightenment, wisdom, and peace. Alongside this majestic figure, we will also be welcoming the placing of 28 smaller Buddha statues, each representing past Buddhas. Together, these statues offer a powerful presence, inviting all who visit to connect deeply with their inner wisdom and cultivate serenity.
This achievement is the result of two years of careful planning and dedicated effort, especially by Venerable Wimalakitti Thero, all the other Sanga Rathana who gave guidance and support, and our generous devotees who helped not only monetarily but with their time and effort. So now we finally get to celebrate this new addition to the BBV which richly symbolizes a place of worship.
The opening ceremony will take place onSaturday, January 18th, at 9:00 a.m. at Berkeley Buddhist Vihara. Four Sanga plans to participate in the event.
Additionally, for those who wish to offer dana to Budda, Sanga, and participants (the practice of generosity), please bring a dish/dessert. The temple will provide the white rice to all devotees.
Those who wish to provide a donation to the temple to offer a tray to Atavisi Buddha also may do so as well.
We truly hope you can join us for this sacred occasion. We look forward to celebrating with you and sharing in this transformative moment as we open Bodhi Maluwa’s doors of worship to the community.
